Well Whiskey after many years of reading and research on ARF.com and the 6.8 forums I have decided to take the plunge , I recently built a new lower and have been accumulating brass and bullets as well as dies . I just need an upper to complete the build. I greatly underestimated the potential of this cartridge originally but since the SPEC II chambering came out it has really caught my attention. Got a question for you.

Have you shot one before ? I have heard the recoil is not that much more and from all I read this round puts a serious hurt on whatever gets shot with it. I am planning on this being my AR hunting rifle for Deer and Piggie. With the old 5.56 still getting the volume shooting duty due to cost of the 5.56 versus the cost of the 6.8, so please let me know what you think I appreciate it a lot.

I have actually not shot one. My roomate has one, and I bought a box of ammo for it, but I have yet to fire it. I plan to at our next LCR in a couple weeks. I do know he likes it though. And it didn't look to have much recoil.

Much appreciated I am seriously thinking I will like it from what I have seen so far. I like the idea of having that much ass whoop potential in a regular AR form factor

I had one of the early 6.8s with the 1 in 9.5 twist barrel. It couldn't handle the hotter Silver States ammo so I sold it in 08 after I returned from Afghanistan. The SPC II chambering, 1/11 twist, is the way to go and that is going to be one of my next builds. A friend has a 18" POF 6.8 and it rocks.

Welcome Tom I am glad to have you here. I thank you for the information I still want one but I am having to save my pennies. I have been AFK for a bit or I would have replied earlier.

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing more posts
