for some reason I'm seeing the AR upper being set up for Quick
Barrel Changes -

Hi, new to the board - looking for other peoples thoughts about the Quick Change of Barrels that seems to be everywhere I look at AR sites.

Here's a barrel Nut replacement

Here's an upper for even quicker swaps

Here's a screw together by LMT

Masada has that feature, Shrike etc etc etc

I'm wondering at what point it becomes cheaper to buy QD upper than just several uppers that stay setup. Only one I see that has required would be belt feed Shrike upper.

Or am I just wrong in this?

What's your take on this Quick Change stuff...

All I can contibute to this is that I have shot a hell of a lot of rounds through various AR barrels and never had the need for a quick change. Maybe firing lots of FA and certainly if you had an FA belt feed, such as the shrike, but for any SA mag fed AR I can't see the need for it. YMMV

If we could only have one rifle, then quick change barrels would be the ticket versus breaking out the tools and swapping things out, but I don't change calibers or have a need to use different lengths for various situations. Pretty cool stuff though for the guy that needs it, I'd say.
