View Full Version : Bushy upper questions?

I just got a used 16" Bushy upper for cheap. It was made during the AWB. It has no bay lug and a break on it, (that's why it was cheap). I don't care about the lug, don't use them anyway, but the break is enough to knock your hat off! I would like to get rid of the break. Something will have to be added to keep it over 16". So I was thinking of putting on a plain flash hidder of some sorts. I am guessing these things are pinned on and maybe worse. Has anyone tried this? Would it be better to send it somewhere to have it done? Is it worth doing or should I find another barrel for the upper, or a whole other upper and sell this one off? I would keep it the way it is but it's loud and a smack in the face every time I shoot it.

I'd either leave it alone and enjoy the inexpensive upper for what it is, or replace the barrel and sell the old one to recoup some of the cost. I guess it depends on how much you want to put into this upper.

Yea I had a nagging feeling it would probably cost me more than it was worth even if I did it myself. I could keep it, but it bugs me having the smack in the face. I never was a big fan of breaks.

Now that I think of it, my dad has that same type upper. He bought a BM back during the ban period and it's exactly like you described. He never shoots it either, mostly because of him never getting out to the range. If you did sell the upper, I'm sure there's someone in a ban state who'd love to get a decent price on an upper like that. Too bad if you decided to pass on it, but at least you wouldn't be losing $$ on it. Good luck on whatever you decide.

yup, easier to get a new barrel than to thread the old one.

I guess I will give it to one of my son's. I have one that needs a smack in face for leaving the gate open to the Camp all weekend!

Two great American traditions right there--teaching your son the shooting sports, and messing with him too. Cause you're the dad! :)

My son's are all adults so the teaching days are about done. The one I am talking about is single and plays the field a LOT! New girl every other week. I am guessing he was up at camp showing a gal pal the cabin. He will have to walk in the next time. I changed the lock out. Maybe a nice long night walk will cool him down.

Dang if I know. I keep telling him at the the rate he is going. He will run out of gal's to date. Our state isn't that big. I don't know what he is looking for. He has had several real good ones, (read keepers). Six kids and a couple of grand kids. I give up trying to figure it all out.
