What advice do you have on building an AR from a kit by just adding the lower?

First decide on configuration: A1, A2, M4?

Then decide on Make if that is an issue to you. It is to me but cost is also a consideration in Manufacturer.

Get a good quality bolt. Colt gets the nod there, IMO. You can get by with less but if you build off a kit, then pick up a Colt bolt at some point for a spare.

Make certain the gas key is staked to the carrier properly. Some manufacturers are not doing that.

Good mags.
Most AR cycling problems are due to mags.
